Reading Tools

We have a child in our family who is rarely without a book.  At meal time, he would leave his food to become completely cold, so he could locate one of his many ‘books on the go’ to read during his meal.  It was getting so out of hand a few years ago, we implemented a “no books at supper” rule that he still complains about to this day.

As you might expect, many of the books in our house have been yolk-splattered, tomato-juiced or mustard-dolloped.  But a few years ago I found the very best gift for our particularly avid reader.

Here’s Gabe yesterday morning, happy to have finally passed the “dull bit” around page 350.   (It took a while to convince him that sometimes you have to push through the part where you stall to get back into the beauty and richness of the story.  He finally did it!)

That blue gizmo is called a ‘Paperback Caddy.’  I found it at Chapters a few years ago, but I just took a peek to see you can also buy it on amazon.com.      It’s a great GREAT little tool.  I’ve used it too, as it’s way better that sticking the corner of your book under your plate, which I’ve been known to do.

If you’re like many, perhaps you’re planning to get a good jump on your Christmas shopping, so add this one to your list for any avid reader.

I got one many moons ago for a few bucks… Check the kitchen section of any department store.
