Take one cardboard box, add some scissors, paint, a bungee cord, a broom handle and a wagon and you’ve got a whole lotta FUN! This wagon cart went down every little hill in our yard, and was dragged up the sidewalk to the navigate the asphalt hills at the school playground.

But the next day, the kids realized that was only half of the box. The lid section was just begging for some paint, and they boys figured the wagon could ‘handle a few modifications.’ (I love this time of year because it means the kids can paint on the lawn, and we can just mow off the mess.)
The finished product. Check out the rear spoiler – added for extra speed on the hill.
After a couple of days, they decided to use the original half for something else. I love capturing moments of cooperation and encouragement between brothers…
Here’s C, ready for battle. He said all he was missing was a nice gold helmet so he could look like a REAL Roman soldier. No helmet, but he did give me good long talk about the importance of a ‘penis protector.’ Ha ha. I guess that took priority.
And G, with full body armour.
And we can’t forget our little warrior princess. (Yes, she dresses herself. =) )
I just love that a few scraps and household items can turn into 5 afternoons of imaginative play. Totally a Finer Thing!

It reminds me a bit of a toddler tossing aside a toy to play with the wrapping paper… Sometimes the best playthings are the simplest. Thanks for stopping by!
